I am rebuilding a DP220 Delta 14" Drill Press. However, I am running into troubles getting the return spring re-installed. So, my question... Is it really needed? Basically, can I do without?

Thx for the input!

Yes, you need it.

No, it shouldn't be that difficult. Did it work before you fixed it?

Maybe post a photo so we can confirm you're working with the correct parts.

Lol. New to GJ. I am trying to figure out how to post a pic on here. Any help is appreciated.

Prior to disassembly, the press did not auto-retract. However, the previous owner stated the press was a "positive feed" press where it always pressed down for "production work". Not sure if this is relevant, but it came with a Quadrill (4 turret head). I have since removed.

Get the picture(s) to your computer harddrive . . . whatever that takes.

Then Edit your first post here on GJ, then click on Go Advanced. Then click on Manage Attachments, and Browse your harddrive until you find the pic(s) as each GJ post can have 7 pics attached. Once your pic(s) show up in the Manage Attachments up at top next to Browse, then click on Upload and actual filename(s) will show up in middle of screen. Then you can click on Close window for the Browse box. Finally, click on Save.
