Hey everyone,
Just joined as this forum looks like a good place to learn about various things that take place in a garage or wooden work shed, in my case, in the back yard, so I would like to I will jump in with my first question.
I have been researching drill presses lately and some of the old vintage ones seem to be a good alternative to the various imports available today. Looking for something for light to moderate hobby uses and just missed out on a Craftsman 150 for $75 dollars just a few days ago.
There is an estate sale coming up this weekend and they have a Delta Milwaukee Drill Press listed and would like your feedback as to what you think about it based only on the below pics as I do not have a model number at this time.
Thanks,
Harry

The common delta DP220, 14" floor machine with standard table. Nice machine for sub 3/8" holes in steel.

You can't go wrong with any of the older DP's. They are built as well as if not better than the high end stuff today. Try and get the DP vise as well. If any work needs to be done, you can do it yourself like bearings. I bought my gang head Atlas for $65 and then added a table and foot to it for another $75 I think. It works like a champ now.

That looks like a pretty pristine example, and is at least equal to a Craftsman 150. For you intended use, probably can't go wrong.
Good luck, Jim.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the feed back. Not sure at this point if I want to spend maybe two days and a two hour drive each way for the estate sale. May just wait until something closer shows up.
