Here's my DIY tool cart using an old nearly worn out Proto roller cabinet and a section of shelving/drawers from an old snappy truck I scrapped out. I just laid out the sockets and everything on the top a couple of nights ago and used them on a brake job last night and loved it. I plan on using it this way for a few jobs and then doing the foam shadow board treatment. Comments/critiques more than welcome!
Drawer descriptions:
The top is obviously all about sockets, and my newest ratcheting Pittsburgh screwdriver set. The top left drawer is pliers, vice grips, snap ring pliers, and cutting devices. Top right drawer is wrenches; metric and SAE. First drawer in the Proto box is more wenches; adjustable and ratcheting. Second is screwdrivers, nut drivers, picks and scrapers. Third is hammers and pry bars. Fourth is blow-molded case sets of tamper-proof torx, triple-square's, and Audi-specific tools. Fifth has small tool boxes with stuff like liquid transfer hand pump set and vacuum testing/brake bleeding tools. I forget what's in the bottom drawer!
Almost forgot to mention that I'm in the process of creating a simple black vinyl cover (think grill cover) so that it doesn't collect too much dust in between uses, although I anticipate excessive usage now that I've got my lift installed and operational!
