I picked up this 1/2" Hinsdale G-20 set today for $15.00 at a small show.

I'd like to get some help/info on date of mfg. and some I.D. on the other misc. Items. The Hinsdale set is fairly complete and includes some misc. other brand name items in the box.

As you view the set:

The center 1/2' drive sockets are 'square' and include sizes:

7/8, 3/4, 11/16, 5/8, 9/16, 7/16, 3/8, 11/32, 5/16. All have knurling around center.

The right side 1/2" drive sockets are 6-point and include sizes:

1-1/4, 1-1/8, 1-1/16, 1, 31/32, 15/16, 7/8, 13/16, 25/32. 3/4, 11/16,
19/32, 1/2, 7/16, 3/8, 11/32, 5/16. All have knurling around center.

The set includes:

8" extension #H-4,
Short reach Speed wrench #DG-1
Long reach Speed wrench #DR-1
Double square ended universal #H-3
standard screw tipped bit

Also an odd adjustable bit #VG-1 that I'm not sure what its for?

On the left is a set of pressed steel sockets:

The marking on these are an 'elongated diamond' mark with an 'M' inside.
Not sure who made these. Anyone know?

Most of these are 6' point 1/2" drive. One of them is rectangular w/rounded ends. What would this be used for?

The ratchet wrench is marked 'EUREKA' and is of a two piece design that you can reverse by pulling the drive part out of the handle and pushing it into the other side. Any idea of the date of manufacture?

Thanks for any info.

Just answered some of my own questions.

I found some good info on the 'alloy-artifacts.org' site. Got some more research to do and looks like I'll have to start checking to see what I'm missing to fill in the set.

So far I found out the socket set was made around the 1920's era. and that they are probably nickel plated. I like the finish on the one socket I cleaned and polished up so far.

Definitely have to find a correct ratcheting wrench.

Tons of useful info at AA. The M sockets are Mossberg. The Eureka ratchet, I think is a Billings product. Cool find.

The odd socket in your second photo is an attachment for engine valve grinding. Or lapping ? Spinning valves anyhow.

Started cleaning some of the tools last night and a little today. So far they're polishing up nicely.

The Eureka ratcheting wrench works great after cleaning and oiling. The small adjustable tool looks good after taking it apart and polishing all the little parts.
Also polished up the small speed wrench and a couple of the sockets.

Here's a couple pics. Notice I placed one of each item in a before and after pic.
