Vintage Mac Tools

Hey everyone,

I was looking for a little insight on some vintage tool chests I just purchased. 2 pieces are Mac tools and the other is Matco. I found the model number from Matco which was made in 78’ but I can’t find anything on the 2 Mac tools.. Does anyone know where the numbers would be located? I really appreciate it!!

Not sure of the location, but they would start with MB. I would guess both are from the 80's.

Your MAC top box, the 10 drawer is just like the one I'm looking for. My dad bought his new in the early 70's. If you get a model number off of it I'd appreciate knowing. I had inherited that and the matching bottom box, I think 7 drawer similar to your Matco unit, from my father. Lost everything in a forest fire at the end of 2018. Finally on the hunt to replace the stuff I lost.

Looks like a Mac MB5100 ten drawer tool chest. I have one that looks the same with the vintage drawer pulls, but it only has one main lock.

I’ll definitely keep you updated! I’m in the process of cleaning and restoring them now!

On the intermediate box, if you pull the top drawer out of the box a little bit you should see a sticker with the model number and date placed on the inside of the box on the top left or right corner of the back if it hasn't been removed. Not sure if the top box is to old for a sticker.
Pull out the drawers and shine a flashlight through the cracks to check.

@ecampana10591 thanks for keeping a lookout. As @tool_scrounge mentioned, my dad's box had one main lock. There was no secondary lock on the deep center drawer. I'm pretty positive the main lock on my dad's did not stick out that far from the case either. It definitely had that style drawer pull, and the same layout under the lid though.

I want to keep it as original as possible because that’s the reason I bought them in the first place. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you everyone for the help! Also I picked up all three pieces for 300 dollars... did I get a good deal? I feel like I did.
