My father-in-law worked at OTC for almost 40 years. He designed many of the tools you see. I now have what is left of his. I will try and upload a few shots. Many of them were sold at yard sale before I could get to them. He had about 5 chest full. I was not able to get a chest. Just pieces of some tools. I am in Arizona. Maybe you are looking for something I have.
Welcome Oldguy. It would be great to see what your dad designed and had. It is like eating chocolate here.

This set was missing the two-bar top piece, but I bought it anyway. I'd neglected to bring the middle threaded rod home, so went back for it the next day. It kept me up at night, realizing what I'd done. I didn't know how it all went together, until I got home and looked it up.

These are all OTC. The shinier two were bought with the bearing puller.

Pullers are similar to clamps, in that you can't have too many.

Thanks, Ricky Joe. The splitter is # 1123. This is the description from their site--

BEARING SPLITTER
Features "knife-like" edges which are easily placed behind the part to secure a gripping surface, even when clearances are extremely limited. When used with an OTC Grip-O-Matic® puller, puller jaws grip attachment's outer edge; when used with a Push-Puller, puller legs are threaded into the attachment's two tapped holes.

• Max. Spread 4-5/8"

• Min. Spread 1/2"

• Thread of tapped holes in adapter 5/8"-18.

• Distance between adjusting screws 4-3/8".

• Use with puller Nos. 1035, 1036, 1037, 1038, and 927.

I bought the red Kennedy box it's in on the same visit to the store. It had a couple of the New Britain hub puller's legs in it when I found it, as well as a few other tools. The other pieces of the hub puller were found separately. Things often get split-up during the donation/out-for-sale process. It's kind of frustrating, but keeps the shopping experience interesting.

You can't have too many pullers -- but then, you have to find a place to put them! I cut "shelves" out of crappy paneling to be able to fill the box and keep things separated. (You can't have too many tool boxes).

This image shows the cross piece that's missing. I could make something, if need be.

That is a vendor-supplied hydraulic pump unit, probably from Enerpac or similar. OTC sold hydraulic puller sets and the pump unit was probably just a part number instead of a model.

Came across this neat (likely partial) set today. I perused the entire thread for this roto head plug ratchet and didn't spy any others. Is it fair to attribute these to WW2 era being what most assumably is a Cad finish? I noticed D42Jeep showed the (same?) flex handle and attributed them to war era tool kits.

My OTC flex handles aren't knurled. The handles are fairly plain with vertical lines. The reason they are popular with GMTK collectors is that there is a RA PD WW2 image that very much resembles the OTC flex handles. See item Q.IMG_2704.jpegIMG_2703.jpeg
I don’t know about the roto head ratchet.

I got lots of big OTC puller stuff ........some unused ,bought from the army auctions ...........IMHO a lot of the big stuff has undersized fine thread screws compared to other pullers........I also have an 80s OTC catalog ...you could get giant puller stuff ,some was dedicated to removing and replacing railroad car bearings..........Ive made my own hydraulic units to work with OTC screw pullers.

On the website their range is much reduced from the 1980s catalog ...........they used to make a nice 20 ton hydraulic unit that was basically two 10 ton one way rams either side of a clover leaf cross piece ,with two retractor springs and a centre screw ............this unit is very easy to copy using two cheap porta -power rams ,and Ive made several of them............The hole in the centre type rams are quite expensive and complex inside and require a two way valved pump.

The top cross bars are pretty common ,often the only part left when everything else in the puller set is broken or lost.........The little ball thrust bearings are useless ,they go crunch the first time out.......The cross bar is more use when the threads are drilled out and a nut used .........the bigger cross bars seem to have plain holes anyway.

I’m bumping this thread in hopes of seeing the OTC set that sold last week on eBay. Someone hit it at the last second and broke my heart. It screamed late 20s and was as cool as it comes. If someone purchased it please post more pics

Here it is. Threw kind of a low bid at it and was surprised to get it. This thing is insane. I've never seen a 1930 otc set before, and it appears to be complete!

And on another side Note. Look at the construction of the box and the tabs. Mighty snappy if you ask me.

Happy to be able to bump this thread again with these No. 714 Lock Ring Pliers. I rarely see OTC in the wild over here on the Beast Coast. The photos don't show it, but they have a small, serrated, surface area on the outside tips of the jaws for better gripping. I don't own any other OTC pliers of any kind. These have a very deeply knurled diamond cross-hatched handle pattern. 1947 catalog excerpts c/o IA/ITCL.

Those are also handy to expand spring lock rings that don't have holes for the standard pliers.

Hi Again: I found these in the 1941 OTC Catalog. The numbers match what I have on the tools. However the ratchet I have is female and the ratchet they show is male which leads me to believe at least the ratchet is older that 1941. My guess would be the late 20’s early 1930’s….
Hi All: I found a 1935 & a 1936 OTC catalogue., the pictures attached show the ratchet like the 1941 catalogue but the 1935 catalogue doesn’t show the part number while the 1936 does: H-361. If you look at the 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets they come with a male plug, which would mean that those are female ratchets. That would make me assume that the 3/4 drive ratchet would also come with a male plug. So based on that assumption the ratchet I have is from 1935 to the 1940’s….

1/2" drive SAE is almost as hard to get rid of as old pipe wrenches.
it just does NOT sell.
not surprised at all you got it on a low bid. looks like a hell of a nice set! (y)

Here’s a late 1920s to mid 1930s OTC B-12 3/8” x 3/8” obstruction wrench with the OTC logo and "Chrome-Vanadium Steel" on the shank. The nickel plating finish is still in pretty good condition.

I got this today. Roller bearings for the drawers! Can anyone give an approximate age?

Date stamp anywhere?
