I picked up a couple of nice oTc sockets at a sale this summer and started looking for other stuff, found a couple wrenches.
Then did some trading with someone here on G.J.and got this 1/2 drive set...

From looking at alloy artifacts info,I guess it's from the mid-forties,but everything looks almost new. I don't think most of it was ever used.

I got the short breaker bar from my nephew last night.
Didn't come with a ratchet,so I added an old school proto.:p

Anyone else collect this stuff? If so,let's see pictures.

P.S: I need a shallow 15/16 socket if someone has one to part with.

Nice!

I have some of their pullers and a nice pry bar but I don't recall seeing any of their basic tools in my travels.

I didn't get the ratchet with the set,Gort. I know it looks like a plomb, but it has proto stamped on it. Seems odd to me they kept making this style ratchet after the new style was out.

I didn't know proto made ratchets for otc. Thanks,I'll be on the lookout for one now.
I love plomb/proto ratchets.

That same ratchet has been made by Plomb / Proto with the names Plomb, Proto, Craftsman, Firestone, Penens, M-Wards, Challenger and Fleet. That style was used to fill military contracts. My guess is after wars ended, they sold the left over tools to civilians. That ratchet with that style of head has been made with both flat and round handles.

Gort.

I have some OTC stuff, don't collect it though, I have one ratchet that I'm pretty sure is made by Wright.

No, but I think I have an old OTC catalog. Pm me if you need some page copies and I'll dig it up.

Saw the OTC posting and request for pics of other OTC items.

Attached is an OTC Rotating Tool Display Panels used in service stations or small stores, to sell directly to customers the OTC tools.

I've seen other display boards by OTC, but not the three sided rotating version, till came across this one.

Here's a couple of mine

half inch extension

1/2-9/16 flare wrench

1/2 dr ratchet, I got the extension and ratchet from my dad's collection, unknown the years.

I was fortunate to be able to go to the OTC facility back in the early 90's as an employee, whose company sold OTC tools! To learn about their products, see the foundry and the like! Great people, good products in my view!!

I have a couple of pullers also-Remember ( Reach and Spread ) for your puller needs!

Hi Burnin,

I see that you have two OTC breaker bars in your box. If you feel like getting rid of that extra, unsightly, short one, the one with the dark natural steel finish that looks out of place in there, not matching any of the other chrome-plated handles in your set, let me know.

If I looked around hard enough I just might could find something to do with it...:eyecrazy:

I have that same ratchet and have never seen another like it. It works great one way, but the other it binds up. It seems to be a sealed unit.... so I cant disassemble for inspection.

Very cool ratchet! At first glance, it almost looks like it could be an early Wright, but the handle is wayyyyy different from anything Wright ever made for themselves or anyone else. I think I saw an early S-K with that style of handle once, but I don't recall ever seeing a S-K with a knurled knob for a reverse switch. Can you take a pic or two of the reverse side?

Here's a pic of the few OTC tools I've got - a Proto sourced 1/2" ratchet, a New Britain sourced 1/2" ratchet (fished outa da 'bay from Israel, no less), and some dbl box wrenches picked up at the local market of fleas. Got a 1/2" drive socket somewhere's , but can't lay my hands on it.

Here's one I found. It appears to be about a 1947 OTC H273 10in 3/8 drive extension. d5774777065c70b653fe613ff486a33b.jpgd0f0904d90dada3b0be6f61d26abcca8.jpgc117ed01d7eef98553483fff4d404874.jpg

Why be sorry? Here are some OTC from the chisel and punch box I picked up on Saturday.

I would certainly pick up an OTC set if I came across one. Any peripheral Plomb stuff interests me.

I've seen a socket here and an extension there but I'm waiting to turn up a full set.

Interesting. I like how the handle is round and body is square. I don't know that I've seen that before on a flex handle. Well I guess the Plomb I have the handle is square but the body is still round. Thanks again for an interesting pic.
