I found an old pair of pliers in my fathers garage and have no experience with this make of tools. Maybe some of you that know can comment as to workmanship. The pliers read, in this order

Fairmount
drop forged
USA

What I find interesting is the pliers teeth are so worn they are almost non existant and the pliers have obviously seen better days. But there is absolutely no slop or play at the joint. The joint / hinge area is solid.

Fairmount was a very good tool maker. They got bought out by Martin back in the mid 1950s. I have an old body hammer made by Fairmount. Too bad those pliers are that worn. :(

Depending on the jaw serration pattern you may be able to restore the pliers to some extant with a small file. Plier joints can be tightened up over time using a hammer, anvil and punch. I don't know whether your pliers were tightened up, or whether they would have needed to be, but it is possible to do when necessary.
