Had this model 852....for nearly 20 years.......and am still very happy with it....

Hadn't used it for a month or so....and it appears that maybe my charger has quit.......and or BOTH batteries crapped out at the same time....

All I get on the charger is a flashing green light....with or without a battery in it.....and they are not charging...

Not sayin' they weren't due.....just wondering what the experts opinions are....before I go shopping for a replacement...

I have the 14.4 version. They played all kinds of games. They were the same drill but they keyed the plastic so the batteries were not interchangable. There was a 3/8" and a 1/2" version of the 14.4 but the drill was identical. I checked the two parts lists...identical They even left the 3/8-24 thread for the chuck on the 1/2" model, which is usually 1/2"-20. I went through a couple of batteries and when they were no longer available I had one rebuilt. I'm glad you have been offered a new charger. I have also replaced the 3/8" chuck on mine for a 1/2". When it dies I"ll probably go for some brushless Milwaukee or Bosch. Your charger sounds like it is not seeng the battery. Take a look at the contacts on the charger.

Those were my first thoughts and the first thing I checked.....just had another look......and everything in the socket appears to be normal...clean contacts, etc.

Try...
Testing the charger voltage output?
It may be further than he wants to go but I'd bet the solder joint between a spring contact in the charger and and the rest of the electronics has fatigued and needs to be resoldered. It does not hurt to look. Sometimes the problem is obvious
