Besides a vise, there's nothing simpler than that in a garage nowadays. Awesome piece, I'd love to see a restoration of that and see it in a working shop.

I actually use it more than the 4x6 bandsaw.
It uses regular hack saw blades and cuts true.

We had one in the metalwork shop at school, was used for cutting stock to length and was kind of weird watching it cut back and forth.

I still use an Atkins #7 in my shop at work. It is old enough to have flat belt drive. The stroking sound is comforting while I am machining other things.

All time favorite tool! Mine came to me in pieces - a failed restoration attempt. But now it happily saws away while I do other stuff.

Mine looks like 24x26's green one but is just waiting for the complete rebuild. It looks like it was way too well used before I picked it up at auction for $50 and has worked flawlessly for over 2 years. It is my most used single plug in tool.
But I really also want one of the back and forth styles so only a very small "you ****" to you guys who have 'em. (o:

I've got that same one, but with a different clamp on it... more basic, or primitive.
Mine also doesn't have that tensioning spring at the rear.
It's on my list of "stuff to restore some day when I have more time than common sense."
