I have a model 404R that was missing its static jaw locking pin. After many careful measurements I turned a new pin from a grade 8 bolt. The angle that works is 4 degrees per side, 8 degrees included. Just thought I would share what I learned because I couldn’t find it anywhere.

Prentiss keeps with 3 degrees per side but Reed is all over the place. I have seen 2 degrees per side and this 406 is 3-1/2 degrees per side. Can you share more dimensions. I second Autopts comment.

Angular: thanks for sharing. Also welcome to GJ where you might notice we have more than a few members that like vises (vices) and old tools. any chance you can post up a few pictures of your cool Reed 404 and the pin you made? i click on the paperclip just above where we post to download my pics directly to GJ and there are many methods.

here's a couple pics of my Reed 404.5 for the thread to show the style of vise we are talking about and showing that the pin you made is for the swivel jaw on the static portion of your Reed.
