Vintage RIMAC tool -what is it??

Just acquired this vintage RIMAC hand tool which is a cylindrical brass tube which when held and front section is compressed a sharp "needle" is exposed. On the opposite end (which unscrews) is cross slotted as if it would be used to unscrew/tighten some sort of fitting. The only markings are : RIMAC N.Y. no tool number stamped and not in the only Rimac catalog listed on International Catalog. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

recently added Rimac catalog No. C now available at International Tool Catalog Library

amazing that Mark found a "Rimac" catalog of any sort!

I have no clue what that gizmo might be.
