A couple of weeks ago, I bought this (with grinder) for $20 at a yard sale.

The interior had these homemade drawers.

I'm going to use the cabinet as a grinder/drill press station, but the drawers are seriously tired, so I pulled them out to discard them.

This is what I found on the side of the drawers.

Looks like the guy retasked an old metal cabinet for these drawers.

I don't think the drawers can be saved, but I've got some new wall art for the garage. ;)

That's one of the coolest ways I've seen someone score some vintage signage.

As for the year I'd guess 1930's(ish). Only reason I say is I own a couple of petrol signs from the same era with very similar style of font and colors.

Again, nice find and thanks for sharing:rocker:!!

Well, now I'm torn. In looking for info on Wagner Lockheed, I found this auction.

Ebay Auction

with these pictures.

So, it looks like they are not home made drawers, but an old Wagner Lockheed display/parts cabinet.

I'd love to save it, but it's really really rough. Thin gauge metal to begin with, it's been heavily used for a long, long time.

hmmm. May need to change the title to vintage cabinet find.

I'm not sure what you're saying. Your original post pictures looks like a piece of metal was used/cut as part of the drawers. The ebay item looks like a small parts cabinet.

Do you suspect that your drawer from the cart is whole?

I originally thought the cabinet was cut down from a sign or a larger display. (see the ragged cut to the left of the sign)

Upon seeing the ebay auction, I believe this guy took an old Wagner Lockheed display, and built this cart around it (the rest is handmade, welded tube steel and painted plywood). I'm guessing the cabinet didn't quite fit once he'd built it and he cut off a folded over section, hence the rough cut edge.

A member on here just bought a nice old cabinet with the same logo. It's on pg 91 thread #1809 on the garage sale thread. What are the chances:wtf:??
