So being summer in a boating community in AZ I've been changing a lot trailer hitch balls and receivers for customers lately. This and bumming around here on GJ made me decide the other day that I needed to add a 3/4" drive socket set to my home box.

A little internet shopping and I quickly realized that the HF set for around $48 w/ 20% off coupon would probably suit me fine. Up to 2", reviewed well, pretty much the exact same China set sold under a host of other names including Tekton and for as little use as it would get it would surely do the job.

Then I remembered my dad had a heavy little green metal box I've moved a few times when helping him look for something in his storage unit. Called him up last night and we went over this morning and sure enough, an SK set up to 1 5/8" with 5 other Snap On sockets and adapters in there as well. Of course that 1/2" to 3/4" adapter will come in handy if I ever want to put one of these on my big Milwaukee M18 Impact. I'll have to clean these up a bit and I'll probably watch Ebay for a few bigger sizes to compete it up to 2". My dad was a diesel Mechanic for a trucking fleet back in the mid 80's but can't turn wrenches any more. I asked him if I could give him some money for it. He is on a fixed income and comes up short sometimes towards the end of the month. He said I could just give him $20 for some gas money.

Very nice !
And the adapters are impact, so they should hold up to to the hammering of the M18.
I'd figure out what sizes you need for the impact and buy a few singles so that the chrome sockets don't get damaged or broken.

A little side note. in 1959 I was in need of a set of 3/4" drive sockets. Our neighbor was a Snap on dealer and also sold other tools. My parents went to him and gave him $20.00 to get me started in 3/4" drive tools. He got SK from a wholesaler he dealt with. When he got them he made a mistake and got $20.00 worth at his cost. Sockets from 1" to 2" and a breaker bar!!!!!

So it didn't take long for me to find a deal on some bigger S-K 3/4" drive sockets to complete my new find. The original set I got from my dad had 15/16" to 1 5/8" missing 1" and 1 9/16". I found an Ebay listing out of NJ for 8 sockets with only 2 duplicates. It was originally listed for $60 make offer and he accepted my $30 offer plus USPS flat rate shipping. I got the 1 9/16" I was missing plus 1 11/16", 1 3/4", 2", 2 1/8" and 2 1/4". Now i just need to find 1 13/16" and 1 7/8" at a good price.

That is a clean looking set.
Nice acquisition.
I believe SK also made 3/4 sockets for Craftsman at one time, IIRC.

That is very nice. When my wife's father passed I tried to buy his SK tools in the old green metal cases but they mysteriously wound up missing. I would have loved to have got them since they were his. My wife and MIL searched for days for them never to be found. Very nice that those were your dads and now you are going to use them.

I have a number of my dad's tools, they get used, but not hard. When I use some of them from my childhood, it brings back fond memories.

Use those tools in good health, and remember the good times, fondly

The OCD trikes LOL

I will check my extra 3/4 sockets for S-K sockets in that size.

A little patience, and you should be able to find a 3/4 drive SK ratchet for under $50. I think I paid $30 for mine. Excellent ratchet, super smooth, fine tooth as well. Although it wont match, but you can't go wrong with a Proto 3/4 either IMO.
