In the last couple of years, I have truly come to appreciate the quality of the past, and over the past couple of years, have started collecting and restoring vintage Skil tools (era 1930's - 1960's).
I have completely restored a Skil 100 7.5A Type 4 planer, a Skil 825 Wormdrive, a Skil 107 10" Wormdrive, and now I am looking for a Skil 127 12" wormdrive beamsaw as my next project.
I still heavily use my tools, no glass cases here, but I want to experience the tools as they would have been when they came off the line, rather than when they came to me, which is generally covered in corrosion, rust, dirt, sawdust, grease, multiple coats of spray paint and overall in worn out condition.
I'm looking to do a ground up restore on the 127, but would prefer not to have to do too much fabrication if at all possible. I know that in some regards, there is going to be no way to avoid it, as the blades will have to be somewhat custom made / modified, but I would prefer that the motor and wormdrive gears be in good condition.
Just wondering if anyone might have one laying around that they might be willing to part with for a reasonable price. If you have one in "damaged" condition, please let me know and I would love to make an offer.
If you have other vintage Skil tools you would be willing to part with, please let me know as well.
respond to the thread or email me at [email protected] if you have one.
