Hoping to get some help IDing a new to me snapon box I got last week. I sent this pic to snapon and they said its either a KRA815 or a KRA380. Either way, they say they do not make parts for it anymore, and do not even have documentation for the part numbers for replacement slides / lock mechanism.

Anyone have any idea what box model this is, and what the part # for the drawer slides would be? Also how the panel covering the bottom left drawers works, that is loose and kind of stuffed in there...

I would bet it takes the same slides as a KRA-377, along with having the same locking mechanism componants, as it is a dead ringer for two of them put side-by-side. Check this page of Collecting Snap-on and you will see what I mean: http://collectingsnapon.com/catalogs/catalogs.php?loggedin=0&catalogPage=1852

Also, I believe boxes of this vintage had the model number on the back, although it can be hard to read sometimes. Check the vintage Snap-on thread or the vintage toolbox thread to see examples of that.

I'd call it rare. I've only seen one of these in person and it wasn't in nearly as nice shape. They don't come up often but they do turn up. As with all things Murphy, whenever I see one for sale it's always 2,000 miles away.

This rig has a model number and production date stamp for sure. Look around the outside carefully using a flashlight to cast shadows on the paint. It's a 1970s era box.

Winner Winner on the dating of the box. And thanks for the flashlight idea, completely forgot to do that.

Found a stamping that it is a KRA-377D, and next to the Kenosha Wisc stamping is "72." Which fits with what you said about it being a 70's era box.

Looking at this link http://www.collectingsnapon.com/catalogs/catalogs.php?loggedin=0&catalogPage=2725 It appears as though it has the optional drawers in the bottom left (my guess). Does anyone know how the door that slides down and covers those works? The door cover is there, but its sitting on top. I'm not sure how it fits / latches / slides. I can post some more pictures if there's interest

The cover should just slide out of its slot

And the bottom drops into a narrow slot at the bottom

And then you push it in, while there is a tab that allows the locking bar to engage it when you lock the entire chest.

Ahh so it doesn't slide on a rail or in a slot or anything? interesting design.

Where would I go about getting a new lock cylinder? Bought the box but no keys came with it. Luckily it was all unlocked lol

figured out how to take the drawers out, as they were a bit sticky when sliding. Looks like the previous owner lubed the slides with anti-seize. Stuffs nasty. Cleaned them up and a quick coat of the clean silicon spray and they are sliding pretty well now. might go back and put some white lithium grease on there
