Vintage Snap On KRA 300 questions...

I saw this box that I believe is some version of an old Snap On KRA 300 box.

Is this box missing a drawer? It looks like it is but I thought I have seen some that didn't have a bottom drawer in an old catalog.

I've never seen a brown Snap On box before so I assume it's been re-painted. Any chance this is original brown?

If it's a Snap On, which it looks to be, no brown.

Is there a sliding metal cover that covers all the drawers? Can you tell an original color underneath the brown?

No way on the brown.
They came with full drawer sets as an option, or, the bottom 2 open was the standard, as I recall.

Yes it is, not really on the bottom drawer, no on the brown. It could be a snap on (most likely) or an actual MBC box. MBC made them for snap on and even sold them under their name. Pull on that silver looking tab and the front cover will roll down.

On that version, it had a trambour door made of aluminum, which was not painted. The earlier versions of that box had the door painted either red, grey, or govt. green

The box does have the aluminum cover which is currently unpainted.

I haven't seen the box in person yet. It is for sale on CL but I wasn't sure if I wanted it if it was missing a drawer.

Is the consensus then that it IS indeed missing a drawer?

No it is not technically missing a drawer. Lower drawers were optional on that box. It's like say alloy over steel wheels on a new car. An optional accessory that could be added at initial time of purchase or later on.
