Got this box from my father-in-law when they moved. Thought it looked cool and vintage and I might have it restored some day, but I don't think I'll ever get to it. Needs to be in a garage next to some bad *** hot rod. My guess from these boards is maybe a K60? Any idea what it's worth?

That box is to "die for". Nice and complete with no obvious abuse or damage.

Cool box. Be careful bending the top all the way back like that, it puts undue stress on the hinge.
Where is FJ432?

Yes, a K60 from the early 40s. Value has a large range, maybe 750-1750

With all due respect, that is alot more than what I have been seeing them go for recently for just the top box. Condition considered. Then there is location, location, location. :dunno:

yes that is a very desireable box.
to the right "collector" it could bring $500 to $700..maybe more:dunno:
since it came from family it's priceless.
i believe its late 30s early 40s.
as cool as it looks its not very functional as a daily use box.
the slides are likely worn/rusty/sloppy. even when new nothing like boxes today.
put it on a shelf or on display in your garage/shop and smile everytime you look at it and think about all the other the guys that wish they had it.

or, sell it.
either way, dont listen to me. i've been drinking:beer:

Very nice box. If you never have seen one of these in person you just can't believe how stout these boxes are built.

Yours is in excellent condition. Please keep it original. Mine was in rough shape.Saving up my pennies to powder coat my boxes.

Coolest box I have have ever seen. Don't repaint it. Maybe rub some beeswax on it if you want to brighten up the red. I wouldn't change it otherwise.

Thanks for the comments. I'll leave it as is and try to find a collector who wants it. Hopefully someone close since it weighs a friggin' ton. Better yet....a guy named "Stan".
