Guys,
I know some of you are in the know about the older snap-on boxes...any way you can provide me with the ballpark age and value of the box in the attached pictures?

Thanks in advance.

The top box is a Kra 61 "super chest" and the bottom is a Kra 307. At 32" wide, those were the biggest box SO made for a long time. Depending on shape, I'd give $350-$400 for them. The boxes would be 1970's era.

The date stamp and model should be on the back. You might have to look closely.

Based on the pics it's worth $250-350 to me. While the old boxes are cool looking they aren't as good as the new stuff so take that into consideration.

I take it you are selling the boxes? Bob is correct on the models, but technically that is not a "super chest" nor was it the biggest box of it's time period. That is probably a mid to late 70's box. Almost looks like they have been repainted, hard to tell. To get exact model, edition and date of manufacture both boxes are stamped on the back side in one of the corners. Nice boxes.

If it were for sale near me, I'd be tempted at $600 and a buyer at $400. Cool old boxes.

A Kra 61 will always be a a super chest in my mind:thumbup: I think they dropped they name when they changed the drawer arrangement from 7 to 9. Yeah I'm a about a decade off from when that was SO's big boy.

Value depends a lot on condition and you just can't tell from pictures. In good shape with original paint, probably worth about $500, maybe a bit more if they are in fact the 32" wide models. They are less common then the 26" wide versions.

Now the question is, how fast do you want to sell. If you want to move them quickly, be willing to take $400. I probably wouldn't go lower then that.

It is a bit confusing since they did reuse the KRA-61_ designation. It was called the super chest for a long time, a carry over from the KR series where it had 7 drawers and at that time was the largest box made. Then they changed it to just a KRA-61_ , no superchest where it had 9 drawers and was no longer the largest box as they then introduced KR537. Which is probably why they dropped the superchest name.
