Guys, found this on our local Craig's List today. It's very heavy duty, complete & MUCH larger than it appears in the picture.
Does anyone know what that is on the right wheel in place of the tool rest. This came out of a machine shop. It's in nice shape & runs great....just needs a good cleaning. Smooth as butter & takes quite a long time for the wheels to come to a complete stop when shut off. I wasn't aware Stanley made power tools this heavy duty, but it does look to be pretty old.
Hopefully the ad & picture stays up for awhile.

Stanley made very high quality industrial-rated portable power tools from 1929 through 1980, when the power tool division was sold to Bosch, who then discontinued everything except for a couple of models of Stanley routers which were added to the Bosch lineup.

It didn't.

Does it look like the one in the upper right of the catalog page below?

If so, it dates from somewhere between the late 1930s and the late 1950s.

If it's more streamlined, with a larger squared-off base, it dates from somewhere between 1960 and 1980.

The attachment on the right side is a holder for grinding chisels and plane irons. It doesn't have enough travel to sharpen jointer knives.

It has the lighted eye guards (I think).:thumbup::thumbup:

It's gone, hopefully you got it.

Yes sir, that's it exactly.....thank you.
I went to bed last night after posting this & the ad was still up, so I thought I'd see what I could find out about it from you guys.
I did a google search this a.m. on the model #677 & found a past thread from GJ where you explained that right hand side fixture I inquired about.
The owner I got it from said he brought it home many years ago from a machine shop & he's 76 years old. So I'm thinking this one dates to somewhere in the 50s, but maybe earlier.
Like I said, it is complete, the lighted eye guards work, & the thing runs smooth as silk. The only issue is the cord has a couple repairs with electrical tape, so I'll replace that. Other than that, it just needs a good cleaning.
Thanks everyone for your input....much appreciated.
Here's a pic from vintagemachinery of one like mine (w/o) the new paint job) for those who didn't see the ad before it went down

I have a Stanley 3/8" drill that I purchased in the late 60's. I really don't use it much, but it runs like a top. Just too easy to grab a cordless..
