Hey, guys. I have an old Stanley No. 39 1inch plane that I have found in the back of a toolbox that I inherited from my grandpa. Im just tryin to find some info and value of it, but not having much luck. From what I can find, it seems that the 1 inch is a bit more scarce. Originally I planned on keeping this, but after seeing some of the prices, might be willing to part with it. Any info with help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Aaron

If this is a tool from your grandfather you planned on keeping until you found out what it was possible worth. My advise is if your not in need of the money. The price I would put on it is priceless.

I never really had a connection with this tool, just that it belonged to my grandpa. It has sentimental value, but not alot, compared to other tools that he taught me how to use. I planned on selling just to let someone who would enjoy it more than I, because its only getting moved from shelf to shelf in the garage. I plan on using the money to restore a toolchest that I also received from my grandpa, but It has taken a while for me to finally make the decision to sell. thnx

Any chance at some photos? I am not an expert but I have some planes and I have sold a good amount in the past. Like most old things condition condition condition... especially with plane collectors and die hard hand tool only woodworkers. Like a lot of guys here like their tools as pristine as they can be, the woodworkers who pay the bigger bucks for stuff want the same most of the time. The only 1" one I found so far sold for $150 at Meekers an that was in just an average, good condition. I would be interested in seeing some pictures. Pm me if you like and I will see if I can help you more with an asking price. You can always go the ebay route but I know some guys that might be interested.

My book shows that the #39 was made with cutters running from 1/4" Dado up to 1". The one that is worth some good money is 13/16". The others are worth $75 - $150 depending on condition.
