Hey Guys, one of my first posts, been reading along for a long time.

Apart from an ever growing collection of old Saabs, my hunger for vintage tools that come with oldtimers is getting alarming. Through the years, I've developed a soft spot for old Sun equipment. I've just bought a Sun Alternator Service Center, from around 1975 if the manual is correctly dated. It is in a condition as expected for something that has been waiting for probably about 20-30 years in a garage, waiting for tender loving care.

I want to restore the Sun ( ) to her former glory, before pushing her into occasional hobby use.

One problem that I have, is that I want to restore the faceplate, and therefore need to reapply the decals and pictures. How do you guys reproduce these decals and are there durable solutions around? I've added some pics to this thread to showcase what decals need to be reproduced ...

The test center I've bought is like this one: https://www.shoppok.com/wausau/a,41,103595,SUN-ALTERNATOR-TESTER----200--Central-WI-.htm

I'll give him a shout.

I googled it a bit further yesterday, and it appears the best ways are either vinyl transfer stickers, or probably printing on decal paper. The latter seems to be perfect, however, the only problem appears to be that most printers don't do whites. It appears that can be solved cost effectively using a white ghost toner. Anyone got experience with one of those solutions?

Mark Saunders at Paramount repairs Sun Distributor Testers. He strips, cleans and repaints them and silk-screens on the new artwork. I don't see where he does VAT-28's, but you can ask.
