Vintage Tool Box

I came across this box while cleaning my garage. It was out of sight under a workbench. I don't know much about the origin or history other than it was given to me by my elderly neighbor when he was getting ready to move. I have had it over 12 years and I know he had it before I moved next door to him in 1987.

He passed away a couple of years ago so it holds value beyond being a cool old tool box.

I have since cleaned it up a little and I think it will spend the rest of it's days in my care holding something other than greasy tools. What that will be I have not yet decided.

Enjoy the pics and if you know any history please share.

I think those leather wrapped handles are before 1960, maybe older. I don't remember any in the 1960s, but the first tool box I bought was in the 1970s and it's a double opening fold out type with different handle, so not really revelant to dating yours.

I have a small Union carry box, and it's newer than that one. I think it's 60's vintage - baby blue wrinkled finish... That's a cool box!

thats a sweet box man, I'd probably use it for an airbrush kit or something you put up clean.

Thanks for the info. I am leaning towards using it for gun cleaning and maintenance supplies.

Nice looking tool box, gun cleaning supplies sounds like a good use for it.

I have a box almost identical. I have some other old boxes, one a round corner tackle box. If I could sell all for one decent modern box, I'd do that. I've got more antiques than anyone I know, but when it comes to tools and things I work with, I want new or at least modern.

I cut the power cords to old power tools just because they are only to look at.
