I love a good tool sign freebie. I went to go pick up some tool lots I bought at auction and the owner was at his shop. I spied this Morse tool drill chart hanging on the wall and was prepared to break out me wallet. He refused and said he was tickled anyone would want that. I love the phone number. Shop was up near Burlington, MA.

I have a starrett drill chart but it was a PDF file i printed out on a large plotter.

Download-File

Anyone else have some cool vintage tool art/wall hangings?

Sailah: Awesome sign and functional too. by the way if you have one garage sign do you have any more? so far i don't think i have any because tools are taking up all my spare cash, but i do like metal/steel and vintage so i'm sure i'll have some one day soon.

nice topic for a new thread and i know there are several members that have man caves and garages full of these. if they find this thread and start posting up theirs this thread should have lots of color and history.

Sadly I don't. I don't even have a garage:headscrat. Well technically I do but we just moved here and are renting. My one car garage is now my sailboat overflow storage area and I'm revarnishing the entire interior. All my big fun tools are either in storage or outside on a trailer.

I was at a large aerospace auction a few weeks ago and they had some cool signs I inquired about but no one could give the permission. The shop owner I got this one from was really nice about it. I'm headed back there in the next couple days to buy up a truck load of steel/tubing/rod off cuts for projects around the future shop and will look over the walls again. I know he had 2 of these signs but I didn't want to be greedy. If he is willing to part with the other one I'll send it to you.

Just to be clear you got this for free? YOU ****!

And what were the tool lots you bought?

Yep freebie. I have a ton of morse brand taper shank drills and I live in MA so I like the Morse stuff. I just asked hey what are you doing with that sign on the wall I would love to have that hanging over my lathe and reached in my wallet.

He just replied, your interest is payment enough and shook my hand. He wasn't selling any of his "scrap" but he said he would for $0.40/#. I use a lot of smaller tubes and rods in all sorts of projects and having a lathe I don't need 12' tubes I just want short little sections. It's ridiculously priced when you need it new. He had an entire pallet rack to the ceiling stuffed with all sorts of good useable round stock.

I bought a few lots, needed some lathe dogs, I thought there were only 10 or so in the box since it was an online auction I wasn't there. There were a few more...I think I'm good for awhile:D

Some lathe mandrels

Can't ever have too many reamers, course I probably have 12 of every size in here already but they are good trade items with buddies

I think it was about $180 for that pile and the free sign.

Ok enough about tools let's see some vintage tool signs!:rocker:

Alright, I'll bite.

Most of my signage is 70's and newer, but I have a few older ones. Many of my signs came from eBay at ebay prices.

Pic 1 & 2 are power tool signs. One or two may be repro's, but most are original. You'll also see a 25"dia saw blade, and a large wood clamp.

Pic 3 shows some older vintage signs, as well as a few large Billings wrenches.

Pic 4 is a tap and die chart behind my DP from the Card Tap and Die Company from Mansfield MA. The store it came from was in Philly with a phone number that starts with TU-4-.

Pic 5 is a Keystone nail chart

Pic 6 is an older Stanley tool sign and a cardboard towing sign from First Night Boston (I worked that event for 10yrs)

Post Continued ........

Pic 7 is a MG/Triumph fender cover (my first car was a 1977 Triumph Spitfire 1500) and a US Forestry Fire Tool Box sign (decommissioned).

Pic 8 is a Briggs and Stratton display sign.

Pic 9 is a stop sign (decommissioned) that was was part of a museum exhibit for Boston's Big Dig that I helped to build and then dispose of.

Pic 10 is an old dented tractor grill (?) that I found in the woods of Maine near my camp. It doesn't have a spot on the wall yet, but I will find a place for it somewhere.

Pic 11 is a NAPA sign from my great-uncle's auto store he gave me before he retired and sold the store to one of my (many) cousins.

I have a few more signs around the shop, but they're new (including a "Fallout Shelter" sign on the door to the backyard, I think its hilarious )

I have the Card tap sign like JakeMac but mine has "Ziegler tools" on the white panel. A local industrial supplier still in business.

Couple different signs of mine. Old lufkin mezurall display complete with NOS refills, a brass lufkin sign, very heavy. Looks awful nice to have been a dealer sign. Also a cast iron keen kutter bin. 2 nameplates from the blaw-Knox company and mesta machine company, both defunct manufactures of steel mill and industrial machinery. Mesta made some amazing stuff, I think they made the worlds largest press back in the 50s maybe. It's in Cleveland I think. Always looking for more signs.

For those who may not know, if you get on Starrett's website, they will send you poster sized as well as pocket sized charts for tap drill sizes as well as metric to sae equivalents. I have a set in my garage, one set at work and got a set for my dad. Granted they are not vintage, they are very handy and I use them everyday.

Just register and choose from the list what you want.

Sorry if somebody has posted this already.

Not much from me but I've been collecting hand saws for a little project. I have enough saws but I just have not taken the time to put it all together.

The goal is to, complete the circle, have them all on a wall with maybe a vintage clock in the middle. An added bonus would be to be able to remove any one of them for when I need to saw something.

Paint them different colors and make a Peacock.

Glad I could help. Growing up my dad had an old set of cards with the tap drill chart he always used. I've always wanted one of my own. I was planning on buying a set but got lucky they were free.
