Just recently I picked up a pretty neat old metal toolbox from this teenager who lives down my street. He had tried to paint it black or blue, and I cannot tell the brand except for the "duplex" name that is stamped on the top. the box opens out in opposite directions and uses cantilever hinge that connects to the long handle which is just longer that the entire box itself. It reminded me of a tackle box except bigger designed for mechanical tools. I would resell however, I don't have any clue of the value, especially since the youngster spray painted it.

That is a Duplex tool box. Duplex is the brand. I think they were later bought out by Proto, a lot of older Proto boxes were made by Duplex. The cantilver boxes were one of their main products; they made a huge amount of them for the military. I see milsurp ones going for $10 to $25; a good one might bring $50 if it's still original red with good paint and good condition. Spray painted, yours will fall in that $10 to $25 category, depending on mechanical condition.
