Vintage Tools for Sale

I have a couple of boxes of old vintage hand tools I would like to find a good home for. Most are metal working tools from my great uncles and grandfather that worked in the Brooklyn Navy Yard pre-WWII. I don't even honestly know what some of them are for. They have been past down to me and I really have no use for them. Some are hand made, some appear to be custom made for a specific, but unknown to me, purpose. Unlike the post I saw before about "vintage tools" from 2002-2004, none of these have a UPC code on them. Most are made in the USA, some in Germany, alot have wooden handles. Some are in better shape than others. I am in the process of sorting through them and I will make photos available as soon as I can. The whole lot will go for the best offer to whoever is willing to pick them up.

Perhaps you misunderstand, the title did include the words, "for sale". I'm not looking to make a mint, but I could use a little extra cash with the holidays coming up. I have tried to attach a photo of the tools that I took today but the picture is too big. There are two hard side suit cases and a wooden milk crate that go with the tools. I can provide specific information on a specific tool if you ask. For example there are some adjustable wrenches, At least two of them are genuine "Stilson" wrenches made in Boston. One wrench says "Ford" in fancy script writing on it. If anyone can date or ID some of these things, please do.

***If you know how I can make the photo smaller for upload, please tell me.

Uh...:headscrat...OT, Mike isn't suggesting anybody get them for free. Mike is simply saying, since you want them picked up (You said: "The whole lot will go for the best offer to whoever is willing to pick them up"), you should at least tell us approximately where in the world the tools are. Should we assume New York? Suffern? Brooklyn?

Regarding photo, you can (1) reduce it in size, (2) post it elsewhere and link to it, or (3) send attached images to people via email, once you make a PM connection. Check your "Private Messages" link for a flashing envelope.

Good luck with your sale.

I figured out the photo resizing thing. Take a look. Oh, and I meant "Stillson" wrench. Sorry for the spelling error. My bad.

Again, my bad. I just registered today so it will take me a while to figure this all out. I have added my approximate global position to my profile. I will work on the private message feature.

I could ship them but the weight would make it too expensive I presume. Take a field trip to NYC, see the sights, and stop by on your way back north! Any idea on how old this "Ford" adjustable wrench may be?

Hello again OT. There are a few guys on this forum who are interested in cool old tools like you have (I'm one) but many others are mainly interested in the latest and greatest Snap-on or other quality recognized brand. You might want to contact a tool collector, or haunt a forum where older vintage tools are prized, such as Papaw's, where I took the liberty to alert people to your sale. They have people there who specialize in identifying old tools. Guessing your Ford wrench was one of the kit tools found in Model Ts or later, but I really don't know, it's not my area. I'm a Plomb guy myself.

If you were to sell your tools through the mail one at a time, you'd probably find plenty of action here.

Hey, I'd stop by to visit myself, but I'm in Mexifornia, and it's a bit of a hike. Again, good luck!

I'm not opposed to selling them through the mail, I just know how expensive shipping a heavy chunk of metal can be. If anyone has interest in a specific item please respond. I will post close up photos of whatever you are interested in so you can see it better. Thanks.

Those are mostly screwdrivers, there are some files, carpet knives, ice picks, soldering irons, and on the far right are nut drivers that have square openings for square nuts. There are some metal chisels and punches in the lower left area. I included a closer photo. Also there is a very primitive ratchet in that picture as well. In the upper right are some glass cutters from "Red Devil" and one glass cutter has a wooden handle as well. Thanks for looking. Ask all the questions you want.
