I was thrilled to find my SpeedeeRatch on here complete with how it works! Now I'm stumped on the one beside it; a wrench of some sort (obviously) about the same era, but no company name. There is a single U with the #15659721 beneath it, a d an 8K 29 under the head. One side says ⬇️ UP, the other DOWN⬇️. Between there is a gear (no pic, sorry). Any ideas? I love old tools, their simplicity, their ingenuity, their mystery.

Since it says Up and Down vs Tighten or In, I'm guessing Jack or Scaffolding.

Googling your number and wrench says its a GM part.

Lots of hits.

+1 on the left one being a jack handle. We will need to know more about the markings and dimensions to identify the other one.

He was giving GJ some nice credit for having already helped him ID the one on the right as a SPEEDEE-RATCH, Jock. It's one of the multitude of obscure ones I don't have in the Index (trying to keep it not too long...), but if you search on that name it'll come up.

I did a brief search but will try again I've managed to collect a lot of unusual and typically vintage tools whose purpose I don't know. Sometimes it's difficult to search one if you don't have a general idea what it might be. It's often quite a surprise when I discover what they're for.

I think someone mentioned that as a possibility. I wonder what the jack looks like.
Another post has me wanting to go through my ratchets and compare them because I know many of them are old as well .
Thank you everyone.
