Bought this many years ago, probably for next to nothing just because I liked it, :) and recently found in a 'junk' box.

Cleaned up real nice and found out it is a McGill. Doubt it will see much time in the garage anymore. More then likely a home in the man-cave. :D

I'm guessing from what I could find online, somewhere between 1910 and the early 20's.

The porcelain socket has McGill embossed on it which is how I knew who the manufacturer was.

A little history on the company. McGill products still available under Emerson.

James H. McGill founded the Crescent Company located in Chicago, Illinois. In 1905, he moved his company to Valparaiso, Indiana where it continued as the Crescent Company until December 1st, 1910 when the name was changed to McGill Manufacturing. The first products were for the electrical industry and included wire guards for lamps, cord spools, socket handles, coloring fluid for incandescent light bulbs, chatterton compound and other electrical specialties.

Yea, I always like those bulbs but never found anything suitable to put one in. As soon as I saw the trouble light in the box a light bulb went off in my head! :D
