Here is my Blue Streak cabinet I got from my last job. It was just sitting around the warehouse collecting dust.

Thanks for bringing back my old thread. I still have my original cabinets that I started this thread with. Jim

I have some of those Neihoff cabinets from when I worked in an auto parts store back in the 70's. We handed them out to garages and we would stock them with tune up parts and ignition wire sets for them. There were two kinds; one had thick doors with the dividers for points, condenser and rotors in boxes. The other had flat doors with deeper shelves for ignition wire sets and battery cables. I got several sets when the store switched over to another brand of ignition, I believe it was Standard Blue Streak, and some of the garages just pulled their old cabinets and handed them over when we dropped off the new cabinets. Boss said to take them if I wanted them. So for age, I'd put the at mid-70s.

I picked up this Atlas tune-up parts cabinet at a garage sale this past weekend. Best guess is 1960's or so. There is some rust to work out, but overall, I'm pretty pleased with it. The seller was asking $40, and I got it for $30.

The logo on the Toyota cabinet about should say, "genuine Toyota parts for your Chevy"

Just kidding.

I'd love to have any of the pieces in my collection. One of my favorite threads.

Hi guys, I'm new to contributing but have lurking on GJ for a long time.
I have a few tune-up cabs, I love these things.

The gray Blue Streak cabs came out of a garage I had in the 80's, I don't know the exact vintage.

The AC Delco ones came from a guy that closed his shop nearby. I went to look at his 4 poster but only bought the cabinets.
The one on the left is older, I think, because the logo is painted on. The one on the right is a sticker.

The "mac-tac" Blue Streaks I bought off Kijiji earlier this year. It was stacked but it suited me better to separate them and put them over a bench.

Ron

I picked two wall cabinets, I guess they would be called tune-up cabinets? I liked the raised logo panels. Trying to figure if I have the wall space to use these, the bigger one with two doors with shelves would take a lot of space. Might just use the smaller one.

The same place I found the two cabinets had two small older looking plain white cabinets, one was missing it's door and my 4Runner was already full with the cabinets, KR-657, buckets of tools, and a Wilton C0.

But I've been thinking they have some cool curved corners and might go back. Do they look interesting? Might make a cool first aid cabinet.

Get them is you will hate yourself. You might be able to make a door or find something appropriate. Ask it may be laying around someplace in the back.

@captain14 I think you are saying I should buy them? ;-)

I really have a space issue at this time, but I that missing door can be found I'm going to be tempted.

I was mainly wondering if anyone recognized the brand or style of cabinet.

I just picked up one of these Toyota cabinets yesterday, along with a Napa brake tune-up cabinet and a small Snap On box. Currently trying to find out the years that either of the cabinets would've been in use!

The Toyota cabinet is stuffed with a bunch of NOS ignition parts that look a lot like my 1980s 22r parts. Some of the NOS boxes have shipping labels on them that show that they were delivered to the Toyota dealership in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, so I'm certain that's where it came from. I'd just love to know when that may have been.

Any info on the Napa box would be cool too! I could not find any manufacturer's markings on either cabinet though.

22R parts were and still are around. Check the label further for possible date codes that might be on it.
One more i found hanging in a shop 45 mins north of me. I have a similar lower now too. And a complete diagnostic center i need to take pics of and post.

Another one I have, with the bottom shelves that goes with it. I never see too many of these around!

These old Holley cabinets came from my grandfather's shop. Made in the 50s, from what I can tell. Bonus shot of the shop from roughly the same time period.

good picture of your cabinets then and now. Do you have any more pics of your grandfathers shop?
There might be more at my parents' house, but there's no telling where they're hiding. He died when I was a toddler, and almost everything was sold off. Just looking around that picture I see a couple dozen things I'd love to have in my garage.

Off topic for this thread, but I also have my GREAT grandfather's long C Craftsman bandsaw, circa 1930s, that took half of his thumb off back in the day. I plan to clean up the internals but leave the patina, and find a period-appropriate motor for it. One of these days.
