Hello, new member and first posting. My dad passed down an old vise that belonged to my grandpa. I mounted it on my workbench of my first house but it’s missing a jaw and I haven’t been able to use it. I’ve been meaning to get it up and working but I can’t figure out the maker to see if I can find spare parts. It’s a 5” jaw and it has a big number 5 on the side. That’s the only marking I can see. Any help would be appreciated.

Asian made in the last 20 years or less? Most Asian made have the size as the only permanent mark, assume sellers name was a sticker.

According to my dad, he says it’s about 75 years old if he were to guess.

Ok, sure.

But I, and guessing a large percentage of the population here, will disagree. Maybe 30-40 years old. But definitely Asian made.

Also if you search this site, via Search, Threads, for Asian Vise, most images will look like yours. One large number, no other markings.

I'm a sucker for a good hand-me-down story, however, there is a severe hole in this one. That's an Asian made vise which can't be older than the 1980s.

As for the jaw pad, you can easily make one.
