A while back, I picked up this Walker floor jack in an auction (for $13).
Today, I started to work on the rebuild project.
I took it apart:
And started cleaning up the parts:
The wheels had about a cup of greasy dirt in each of them.
And under the grunge they were Walker blue on one side, and Walker Yellow on the other:
I found a lot of blue under the red paint, so am planning to go with that color when I re-paint.
The main pivot shaft that the jack arm rides on was significantly bent:
So I used the hydraulic press and straightened it back out:
I scraped, washed, wire wheeled, and/or bead blasted most of the small parts:
Now, I need to tackle the hard parts.
The pump needs rebuilding:
And one of the side frames has a bend in it where it looks like a truck backed over it.
Once I get the frame straightened and the pump apart,I'll be asking for some assistance from Hiball and others on both the pump rebuild parts, and a source for the correct Walker blue and yellow paint.
