My son found a vintage Walker jack. Unfortunately the nameplate is gone, and I'm trying to figure out exactly which model I have. I've been reading a lot, but I'm hoping someone can point me to a few definite clues.

Looks like it's from this family of jacks. I am not too familiar with these Walker jacks but the length of the frame and handle may give away what model it is.

I couldn't find anything on the "S 954" on the casting on the frame, seems like it's a somewhat early part number naming scheme.

update:

Seems like there should be a casting number on the bottom side of the hydraulic unit like this

I believe with this we should be able to figure out exactly what jack this is...

I had looked thru the hcrc website before but had not found anything definitive until your suggestion to check the number on the bottom of the pump. It's a little scraped up, but "G 874" matches the parts list number for the “Unit Casting” on a 783 (or 783-R) Walker Shop Boy. Now I think I can order the parts I need.

I’m assuming this is a 2 ton jack but I'm still trying to verify that.

Thanks for the help!

Looks kinda like mine, an 884, Your wheels and fairings look to be smaller, but maybe not? That's about all I can do to confuse you. ;)

If it's a Model 783 "SHOP BOY" it would be rated at 3 tons. Seems like you also have a series 'A' jack, not entirely sure of the differences between A, B, and C series.

Using this as the source for the tonnage:
