Hello,

Can anyone date and give an approximate value for a vintage Williams Orange tool box. The drawers have some sort of sticky fabric lining the bottom. When pulled off and the sticky cleaned they should be scratch free and in good painted condition. The outside has some rust pitting but should buff out if repainted. Pictures attached Thanks for any info you can give!

I wouldn't pay over $100 for it.
But if I was selling I would be asking $ 200 and take $175

Thanks!

For only $200 -$175 I would be tempted to keep it and have it restored. It is really heavy and made to last.

Looks like it was made by MBC/Chicago for Williams. They also made boxes for Snap On and Mac and others. Probably from the 70's, maybe 60's. I have one that is similar but with more drawers and mine have the same handles as your outside chrome handle. It weighs about 60-80 lbs empty, 31" w x 16"d x 18" H. It's a tank

I paid $70 and it's in fantastic condition.

I agree with the others about price maybe even less as it really needs to be repainted (the top looks toasted) which is a lot of time & effort to do properly. While there maybe some fanatic Williams collectors who really have to have it, then you could probably get more; while I could be totally wrong but in it's present condition I would say $100-$150 max.

In my area you can get older Snap-On chest's just like this in much better condition for under $200. Remember value wise in general Snap-On is considered higher value than Williams.

Neat box. I'd guess 1960's vintage. It should be stamped on the back. Probably made by MBC like macgee. Looks like the equivalent to a snap on KRA-56. Realistically you are probably looking at ~$80 +/- a bit depending on in person condition and market. Reasons being a.) Even though it is a well built box, the brand is not well known to the masses b.) Condition is not that great so collectors won't be drooling c.) The market for boxes like that is a bit limited, the average CL browser will see it for just a basic tool box, non ball bearing and back to point A. Not trying to rain on your parade, I've just seen enough of the old boxes to become quite familiar with them. I'd keep it and restore it if I was you.
