Hopefully someone here on this thread can help me out?

I have a nut driver set that I strongly believe was actually made by Xcelite because it has all the features and look of that brand of manufacturer.

Because when I first saw it and I assumed that it was an Xcelite set but once opening it, etc. the rubber pouch has another manufacturer's brand name on it (just look at the picture).

Though I know that for a fact Xcelite made tools for many other manufacturer's and I am sure this is one of them.

But looking at the set it is not complete....so if anyone has a spare that they would be willing to part with I'd be much obliged to you.

It appears to be missing, one (1) for sure part which would be the larger Phillips attachment.

The other is I believe missing size Nut Driver attachment?...either a size smaller than 3/16 or the next larger size above 3/8?

( 7/16 or 1/2 maybe ? :dunno: )

The sizes of the nut drivers that it currently has are as follows:

3/16, 7/32, 1/4, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32 & 3/8

I'd like to make this set complete.

If you can great!....if not no problem then....it's all good.

Also, anyone know what Xcelite matching set (part #) is just like this one pictured?

Thanks y'all for your time, post and help, very much appreciated!IMG_5818.jpeg

A little history on the Ivy tool company might be in order here. Thanks to @woody 73 for the dig to create this.

Based on the appearance of the handle, my opinion is that the set was not supplied by Xcelite. The Xcelite handles are more smooth on the drive end whereas your handle is ribbed. My guess would be that they may have been supplied by Vaco. The government stock number would have dictated the contents of the set.IMG_1423.jpegIMG_7427.jpegIMG_0474.jpegIMG_1068.jpeg

As others have said, the handle isn't made by Xcelite. If I were a betting man, I would bet the blades aren't either. In every instance that Xcelite made a kit like this for somebody else, the handle would be rebranded, but the blades will still have their 99-*** part number. I can see your blades even say "IVY" on the end, so they were probably just a copy of Xcelite design.

I have never owned an IVY piece, so I can't tell you if the blades are compatible. I've seen several off-brands that look like they'd be compatible, but don't fit. You'll just have to buy an Xcelite blade and see.

Has anyone ever seen a Blackhawk nutdriver? I'm not sure what the "G" stands for, but the handle looks identical to a Powr-Kraft example further up the thread. I'm thinking it's Rosco or Stanley? Unfortunately the shaft is bent.

Looking at this post two years later with fresh eyes, I think I answered my own question. Elsewhere in this thread it was determined that the "G" code on Powr-Kraft drivers indicated production by Great Neck. I think this Blackhawk driver is also Great Neck. The handle is identical to a Great Neck driver in one of my toolboxes. Sorry to dig up an old post, but good for future reference.

And, yet again, another Xcelite rack

This one did not come from a random sale, but, instead, I found it on eBay. It doesn't fit modern size shafts, so I pulled the nut drivers out of a much more common #27 rack. Interestingly, none of these racks has a spot for 7/16"s even though they offered that size.

Of course, this is causing me to completely rearrange my peg board to keep them close at hand.

Only clue on this hollow hex driver was the number 164197, which is the 9/32 (7mm) socket wrench for the needles of Singer 246 (also Merrow and Rimoldi) overlock machines.
So I won’t be starting a set with this one!

I finally was able to get every size nut driver that VACO (pre-Klein takeover maybe?) made.

Or at least every size that I know about or could find. :dunno:

If I am missing any other size or sizes, please let me know or mention them to me…I’d appreciate it!

Also for me, it’s not important that they all have to be the same length in shaft…I just wanted every known size that Vaco produced back before they sold out and taken over by Klein (or just maybe Klein added a few more sizes under the Vaco name?).

Here are the sizes (in SAE only not Metric) starting from left to right, the largest to smallest.

5/8, 9/16, 1/2, 7/16, 3/8, 11/32, 5/16, 9/32, 1/4, 7/32, 3/16, 5/32

I was able to find an "IVY" brand large phillips screw driver attachment for this pouch set.

So I believe that this pouch set seems to be complete?....still though thinking about adding just one more larger nut driver?….because the pouch does have one last place for it. :dunno:

I spotted one of the S-K spinners that I am always on the lookout for in an eBay lot selling for less than I usually pay for the spinner alone. The lot came with several nutdriver brands/styles that I hadn’t previously run across. Here is the lot.IMG_8808.jpeg

Not sure if you count this really as a nut driver. However it appears the yellow screwdriver comes out of the handle but I couldn’t get it out. I swore we used to have an Xcelite thread for their other tools too. I didn’t even know I had this I randomly found it when going thru some other vintage tools.
