ok so I opted to use vinyl soffit and fascia, and I have no idea how to complete the corners of the fascia. it said in the directions to make some sort of corner cap, but I just couldn't get it to look right and I couldn't get it to wrap around like aluminum fascia so this is what im left with...

That's the ***** of vinyl. Some things you can make look great, and other things you can't.

Is that a hop roof all around? If so, and you are going to put gutters up, I would either bend up a piece of metal flashing, bend up a piece of vinyl (yes, it can be done), or caulk the corner and let the gutter hide it.

A lot of people when they get older want to cover up wood with vinyl. I'm the opposite. If this contractor comes through, I'm pulling all of the vinyl off and going with either cedar siding or LP Smartside. I built the garage in '99 and put on vinyl, and today, it is just looking tacky.

BTW....Welcome to Garage Journal. Hope to see more of you around here!!!

If you don't mind, and if you plan on hanging around, if you would, could you at least put the State, or Country that you live in into your profile.

And only a few rules.....Rule #1....We Like Pics!!!!!! Oh, and no fighting

And don't be too quick to caulk...there are many people on here that do many different things. Someone may just have a better idea than me.

Ideas ? Nope gotta nadda here but I'm glad you posted that picture. I'm supposed to help a buddy side his house and he bought vinyl fascia to use. I told him to buy some coil stock and we'd use the siding brake to do it instead.

You're not suppose to face nail vinyl fascia or siding. There are mounting strips to allow it to expand and contract with temp changes.

I used coil- stock on all the soffit areas. You can cut and bend it as needed and fold it around to make some very professional and WATER-PROOF corners.

Didn't know you wernt supposed to face nail it... I'm thinking it will be ok as far as expansion because it's white but only time will tell... If not I guess I'll have to just re-do it :/ and what is coil stock?

When the vinyl expands it will pucker around the nails. Coil stock is a roll of flat aluminum you bend with a metal bender as needed. You can buy pre bent aluminum fascia which is easy to work with and fast to install.

Vinyl facia material is really wavy. It is very hard to make look nice. I recommend using aluminum facia. If you have to use vinyl the only place you can nail is up through the bottom. Slide it up under the drip edge at the top. It will hold it there.
