Vinyl Plank Flooring, Need Some Help!

My wife and I ordered enough vinyl plank flooring to do the entire house. Today I was getting ready by removing baseboards. While in the area of the kitchen/family room. where carpet transitions to linoleum, I ran across a problem. A big problem! At that transition, under the linoleum there is 1/4" lauan sheeting. The lauan is hot difficult to remove. However, we have a peninsula in our kitchen which is where our sink is located. So, either I pull the cabinets out to remove the lauan, add lauan to the rest of the house or, some how, cut the lauan all around the base cabinets.

Anyone else run across this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Toe kick saws can be scary to use, they get lots of fingers. None I have used have a depth adjustment.

Luan is super thin, just score it along the cabinets with a sharp utility knife and snap it off. It just takes a few passes with a sharp knife to almost cut all the way through it. It should not be too big of a deal, after you break it all off as close as you can a little more work the utility knife or a sharp chisel will have it all good to go. It really isn't a big deal.

I would recommend a utility knife and an oscillating multi-tool to finish up the cut if the utility knife doesn't get all the way thru the Luan plywood.

you adjust toe kick saws depth of cut by changing the diameter of the saw blade ( at least for Crain Saws) , or running it on a pc of plywood
crain offers 2 or 3 different diameter blades for their saws

for one time use I would get a good utility knife & blades and go at it. Luan is very easily scored & broken, a bit of clean up after you'll be good to go
