I'm installing some vinyl self-stick tiles in a soon-to-be-bathroom. The instructions call out that I should use a floor roller after the job is complete to help set the adhesive completely. How important is this and can I accomplish the same thing any other way?

Not sure with the self stick but with lvt they help set the pressure sensitive glue. I've only used them in commercial floors but if it's a small residential bathroom it might be more of a pain. Maybe take a rolling pin and put all your weight on it? Should be able to get 100 pounds of pressure on that. They also make laminate roller I've used for areas my big roller cant fit into.

I just used a cheap silicone rolling pin and body weight when I did the basement of my last house. Worked well, but my stomach muscles were a little sore the next day from reaching too far in front of me. I'd probably be ripped if I did that every day.

Very important. If you don't "wet out" the glue with pressure, it will likely come up at some point. Rentals are available as @kbs2244 noted

The HD in Ashland has a 100# model for $16 for 4 hrs. The hand held one's are cheap to buy, but require a lot of pressure

I just used one of those cheap hand rollers when I did a bathroom at my old house. I did prime the floor first but when we sold it I hadn't seen any issues.
