Does anyone have vinyl siding on a pole barn and have you had any issues. Even with OSB I have been told the siding could bow or buckle if theres any settling. Be interesting to see if anyone has experienced this.

My son in law put up a pole barn/garage 42x55 part of it two story with an apartment. He had the slab/floor poured after the building was up. It is 2 years old and vinyl sided. No problems. Why would you even worry about settling? If it is constructed properly you should have no problems.

Just brought to my attention from reputable pole builder in the area. I think its more the fact that its quicker and easier for him and his crew. Part of his system of building and siding may be out of his comfort zone. who knows, but that could be the case.

I built a 32x28 with OSB sheating and vinyl siding about 10 years ago. The only problem I have is when I get the weed wacker a little too close, not good for the siding. If there was settling, I think the siding buckleing would be the least of your worries.

My 26x36 pole barn is sheathed in osb with vinyl siding and shingle roof. Built about 15 years ago, no issues.

I think you are on track with the builder being outside his comfort zone.
Maybe profit zone also.
If he doesn’t have the experience and equipment for vinyl he will have to hire a subcontractor.
With OSB to fasten it to any siding contractor should be able to do it.

I too think your builder is outside of his profit zone. If he's a pole building specialist and only does metal siding, he may not be able to estimate the time it will take him to install the OSB, housewrap and siding, thus making him uncomfortable.
