I am having my new construction pole building sided today. It's killing me because I am at work. My wife drove by on her lunch break and snapped a picture. In this picture there is about a 4" gap between the rows of siding where you can see the house wrap. Does anyone know what the purpose of this is? Is this a trick some contractors use? Thanks for any information. It is killing me being at work while this is getting done.

The last piece has to be "ripped" in other words trimmed to a specific height, just like you'd rip a board on a tablesaw. It also has to be punched, so the 3-sided tabs will "clip" into the utility channel at the top. It takes some careful measuring and a lot of cutting.
So, most likely, my guess is that they are saving this work for last until all of the full-height strips are put up.

Oh LOL! Good call guys. My wife sent me the picture and said it was a missing piece of siding. So I zoomed in on the picture and thought it was the dots on the housewrap. I sent a buddy over and he confirmed that it's the walk plank. Lol! This thread can be deleted now. I am losing my mind sitting at work while all this is being done.
