Vinyl siding repair

Hi, my dog made a hole the vinyl siding about the size of a half dollar. Normally I would just remove and replace the course. But this course is half hidden by the wood deck. Replacing this course isn't a practical option. Anyone have experience with filling or patching vinyl siding?

I have repaired vinyl siding by cutting a slightly oversized patch out of the same siding and gluing it over the hole. It's certainly noticeable if you look at it but it doesn't jump out with a casual glance.

Take a piece of nominal length and cut off the top of the flange. Stuff the bottom between the deck and the damaged piece(if needed add a dap of silicone to help hold it) and use a small nail(s) up under the first course lip to hold the top. An extra joint/lap shouldn't be that noticeable.

only difference I would do is use #6 stainless screws to hold it to the original pc , and screw up from the bottom lip[ so those screws are hidden .
yes, a pic would be great too

I'd just glue on a patch. There are many clear construction adhesives out now so check the label to see which will glue the vinyl.

Can you still get the same siding? You might be surprised. I can still get the exact siding for my 30 year old house at Menards. Color has faded over time, but it's better than nothing.

Is the hole a good spot for an outlet, spigot, or natural gas line?

If that's all it is, take some white foam(like the pool noodle kind..it will add texture where the hole is) and carefully stuff it in the hole and behind the cracks to level the area out. Then hit it with clear silicone..after you clean the siding of course.;) If it doesn't look good enough to satisfy you, put a potted plant in front of it.:)

That's about the the worst possible position and conditions for an actual panel replacement or repair.
I'd find a close color match caulk and pump it in, lick your finger and "tool" it smooth. You'll be the only one that notices it being very low.

it is, any other location, and its a simple remove and replace the course of siding.

As said, caulking might work. Shove something in there for backing.
Use OSI Quad polyurethane caulk. You can smooth it with mineral spirits.
Take a scrap of siding, wet it with cooking spray and stamp the wet caulk to sort-of get the pattern.
