Vinyl soffit for ceiling

I have a walk up second floor over my garage/shop. Upstairs is empty but would like to put a partition wall to divide in half. One space unconditioned space for storage and the other half office/man cave. The ceiling height is 10 feet and the access for Sheetrock is difficult at top of stairs. I have an idea to install solid vinyl soffit material in white on the ceiling?! The room will be insulated and air conditioned. The walls will be some type of wood. Will the vinyl hold over a 12 foot span without sagging? The ceiling is 16 inch oc. No trusses. Will I need to nail loose for expansion? I was hoping to shoot in 16 ga air staples. Thanks

I have done it in my man cave on the 2nd floor in my garage with 24 oc spacing looks good and was easy to do.

the vinyl needs to be able to slide on the fasteners as it expands/contracts a lot with temperature. so I would not staple it.
also, not sure how the Fire regulations would look at it used indoors. it is very toxic when burning
