Your tools are new old stock. But that is not a bad thing. You have purchased well made high quality pliers that were manufactured in Germany (formerly West Germany before 1990).

I don't know what you will using them for, but I'm confident you will be happy with them.

This is most possible Counterfeit!!, for several reason
1. The history still not clarify, we never see this brand in worldwide before.
2. They intend to make this pliers and copy Fit, instead of today we have never sure to prove Fit
3. You could find very easy those stuffs such as Fit, Indesto, Eye brand etc. in Asia. Anyone live in USA. difficult to understand this case.
4. Is it possible, Germany Pliers, those are premium, great quality, etc, you could get those with $10 money, meanwhile USA. pliers famous brands normally prices average up to $10+
So, this is nonsense of pliers, and you could find in Alibaba, and other famous brands such as Bahco, Stahwille etc.
in my opinion, those VIP pliers is Counterfeit,

Hello to the Garage Journal User.
This is my first post in this forum and here ist the Answer about the VIP-FIT Plies Copies from Remscheid.

My Name is Arndt Dürholt and I'm the managing director (in the 3.rd Generation) of our Fit- Pliers- Company in Remscheid.
My Grandfather Otto Dürholt invented the original "FIT- Shearing Pliers" and got the Patend for it at the 26.April 1950.
So "Monte" is right with his Link!!

See Link (sorry new WWW-Side in the Moment only in German):
http://www.fit-pliers.com/ueber-uns/
Click through the WWW-Side to get an idea about FIT and its Funktion
http://www.fit-pliers.com/

Up to today we are producing the original FIT Shearing Pliers in Remscheid.
The VIP-Fit Pliers posted in this thread is a Copy from the 1980 from Wolfgang Wirtz Remscheid, but this Company does not exist any more. Nevertheless you will find a lot of rubbish PRC or India Copies of FIT under Alibaba, ABM Tools and other B2B Sides.

The Original with its best German Quality is only produced from Dürholt-Zangen GmbH in Remscheid Germany.

If you want to buy the Original FIT contact our first Dealer in US under:
http://www.samstagsales.com/allaroundgermany.htm and search for FIT

Hope I could help you with this information.

Best Regards
Arndt

in case it is lost in translation, VIP is a slang term in the US for "Very Important Person". I think he was just making a joke about the brand name...

where do you buy this stuff over there? I have to travel again in Feb. to Bangkok...I never seem to find any deals....

Hello Master Monte,

I cannot find any information about the cutting capacity of the Fit pliers in hard wire, medium, etc. I have looked in their website but cannot see anything.

Can I use it to cut bicycle brake and gear wire?

Vielen Dank:bounce:

Google translation can be rough on syntax.

A friend was sent two pliers with those red covered handles from his dad in Spain. He really likes them and they are solid tools.

Pirated or original I do not know but clearly not junk.

Hello :)
cutting capacity in flat material: 4,5mm (plastic, rubber, foil) and 1mm in steel
cutting capacity in round material: ca. 12mm (branches, hoses, copper cable) and 2mm in wire, nails etc. (800-900 N/mm)
Not for spring steel.
Bitte sehr :bounce:
