Step 1.

My name is Brent...and I am a garagaholic. Among other addictions are old cars/motorcycles/and airplanes. I am in the process of building a 30'x48'x12' garage/shop with attic trusses. I found this forum after looking at a thread on the H.A.M.B regarding sweet garages/shops and wanted to get more ideas as I begin my build.

Last fall was spent clearing trees and working up timber. In December I had the excavation completed, and over the winter I secured a building permit. My building will be completed in post frame fashion and the actual building will start in a couple weeks. I have a need for space for storing old cars and motorcycles that I play with from time to time as well as classic car parts. I eventually plan to add a 2 post lift with around 9-10k pound capacity. At this point I am exploring the idea of putting in a heated floor. I intend to side the shop with board/battons and let it age naturally similar to the smokehouse that is already on our property.

I am building on land that has been in our family for 6 generations. I have lived in other states for the last ten years and now that I'm back home I don't plan on going anywhere. This is the only shop I ever plan to build, so I want it to suit the needs I have...while still saving cost where I can.

Welcome from Warren/Clark Counties. Since you came from the H.A.M.B. as I did might your V8 be an ol Flathead?
