I hope that, if this guy bought a bigger vise, he used bigger nails to hold it to his bench!! :lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Especially if he'll throw in the "mounting hardware". :lol_hitti

at least you know it's only been used lightly.

or it's hit the floor a few times. Look for dents in the concrete if you go to pick it up.

When I bolted my vise to my bench, my wife told my father in law that I was nailing it down (to her, nails, bolts, screws, its all the same right) and the next time I saw him I got an earful about how you cant nail down a vise. lol

That sounds like my wife too ... AND her father as well! She told me that the first time my father in law went in to Home Depot he nearly passed out ... too much information for him to process at once.

A guy I know moved into his new shop, needed to use the vise right away, clamped it down to the corner of the bench with two C-clamps. It is still that way five years later!

Chuckle. :spit: It's amazing how much pressure good c-clamps will hold. But I think I'll stay with bolts, washers, and nuts. Call me old fashioned....again.

Hell, my wife would tell her father I bolted the vise down and he'd complain about waisting bolts....and how I should have just used some old staightend out nails he had rusted together in an old cofee can out in the barn...

Hey now, go easy there, I have one clamped to a steel shop cart with a pair of furniture clamps. And the drill press on the other side of the cart is clamped down with 2 C-clamps.
