The local sale barn has a pallet of these. Are they anything special ? I didn't look close for a maker. Some in better shape than this one, some worse.
There's a Rock Island vise with an exposed lead screw showing, not a preferred version. The one in the foreground has been beat on in several places it shouldn't have. It would be worth a look but the heavily rusted condition of them makes the price on the low end just above scrap value IMO. Look for things that are still workable if you go, beware of bent handles and cracks/fractures from the hammer.
Thanks everyone, the sale is next month. I will try and stop again when I have time to inspect them better, there are several anvils, vises and post vises.

An interesting addition for a shop.
But, as crguy alluded to, they don't stand up well. The vise has no provision to withstand heavy pounding as a true leg vise would have. And, the casting forming the anvil won't take much abuse either.
Be careful before you spend serious money.
Always good advice.
I have a rather large collection of variations of bench vises from different manufacturers. I have one of those combination anvil/vises. I’ll post a pic later this afternoon after I finish my beer.
As I recall, I didn’t pay very much for it. Certainly not a hundred.
