That's what I did with mine.
I recommend you get something more substantial then the vise you attached. Something forged, or at least 50lb+.
A vise is one of the most valuable tools in the garage; and generally the bigger it is the more useful it is.
For me i dont need anything more substantial. Its a small vise. I use it to hold stuff like: threaded rod to cut with hacksaw, wires to solder, small pipe fittings, anything threaded to run a die/thread restore down, pieces of anything that needs to be drilled, painted, scribed filed, deburred, etc. Im not beating on it with a 20lb sledge.
For me anyways, its a vise on a 26" tool box. For me 3-4 inch is perfect. My use case is industrial, pushed all over the plant, behind machines, in between machines, in tight places, forklifted to different buildings. Its NOT a vise to replace the 8inch, bolted to a 1500lb+ workbench in the shop, that i will beat on **** with a 20lb sledge.
Guess it all depends on OP use case. Which he didnt state. Mines only held by neodiddilyium magnets. And works great.
