Vise Grip Clamps

Where do you guys buy your Vise Grip welding clamps, particularly if you plan on buying several? I was thinking that Eastwood stocked them, but I can't find all of the ones I'm looking for.

assuming you are talking about the c-clamp type
i normally dont buy NEW visegrip brand welding clamps.
i pick them up used, (for the right price), or buy cheaper knockoff brands.

i hated ending up with welding slag all over my nice shiney new ones

I got several from menards. They had them on sale several times. I dont remember every seeing them cheaper or even on sale any were. I would go buy the tools every time i was in their and when they were on sale get 1. I how have plenty.

The Grip-On and Knipex are a heck of a lot easier to work with.

I bought a couple pair of cheapos imitation vise-grips for welding. Like crewchief said, not wanting welding slag/berries on good stuff.

FWIW, I figure it's no difference to buy the cheaper chinese knock-offs instead of the name brand chinese made pieces for welding.

They work fine and cheap enough that I don't care about damaging them. I did find that the screw is not as hard as the one in a real Vise-Grip brand clamp and they are a bit easier to strip out if you're not careful.

i have a few pair of the non swivel ones from northern as well.
they've held up pretty good so far.

northern's other welding clamps not so well...
i've managed to bend all of them.
