I'm trying to take this vise apart, but am having problems removing the nut. I'm assuming this pin needs to come out somehow, but I've had no luck with it. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Knock it out from the bottom with a pin punch and a deadblow hammer. It might take a few hard hits, but it'll move. I just did the same thing with my Parker.

There's no access to the pin from the bottom? I don't have any pictures, but its solid on the bottom.

Are you sure there is no access? Possibly covered in grime or something? Because that would be rare. Any chance it's threaded in from the top?

Can you grab a couple better pics from the bottom and a close-up of the pin from the top?

I recall having one that knocked out from the top, but there's gotta be a through hole there. Some degreaser and steel wool should reveal it.

Is your vise a Prentiss? It looks like a No.56 and mine has an access hole in the bottom. They will get covered with grime/rust/grease so it will need to be uncovered before it can be removed.

Some of my Athol's have a pin with a collar so they can be taken out from the top is there is enough room to fit a prybar underneath them.

If you still don't "see" a hole, take a measurement from the top side and transfer that to the underside. Use a small drift, big hammer and pray before you hit.:D

It's actually a Samson 5254. (I know nothing about this brand.)

But, thanks to everyone here, I got the pin out, nut removed and it all apart. Ready for a scrub down.

Thanks

Got the Samson scrubbed down and a couple of coats of paint on it.
Thanks for everyone's help.
