I have a Rock Island 504A. Works great and looks great. My only problem is I cant find the 4 screws that hold the jaw pads onto the vise. They seem specialized. The are machine screws but the taper under the head has a sharp/acute angle that I cant match up at a Hardware store. Any thoughts on where to acquire these. I know the threads are 1/4-20.
That particular style of screw has been making us vise hounds pull our collective hairs out trying to source these things for some time
The angle is very sharp and sometimes hard to reproduce, maven with existing stock. Try finding the same style screw but in 5/16 and a no. 2 Phillips instead of slotted
Turning screws down works but if you don't have a lathe at home, it can be tricky
Try clamping a corded drill in your bigger vise

, you do have a bigger vise, right?
Then chuck in the screw and use a grinder to rough the shape. A file will finish it out nicely. I've made a number of screws this way, and I have a lathe
Good luck and I'll check my scrap vise pile for some extra screws. I think a 504A is the smaller rock island with the side mounting Pritchel cutter and I might have one laying around
