Vise Help

Been looking for a good older wilton 1750 for awhile. Prices have gone sky high!

Have not found anything local that I really liked. Most are beat to hell or restored and $$$$.

I found a 1750 (online) stamped 86, looks to be american made (screw in pipe jaws and solid base) for $300ish + $50 ship.

I also almost pulled the trigger on one of the 1755 (Taiwan made) special sets with the free sledge for $369 shipped.

Between those two what would be my best bet? Jaws on the 1750 would need replaced so that could add some extra $.

You can ask somebody here if they would be willing to part with one. I’m confident that for the right price somebody would.

consider putting your location in your profile so it shows under your avatar. I have sold a few vises to other GJ members. The last vise I bought, an American Scale 4 inch model, I picked up at a fellow member’s house in Los Angeles. Shipping on the bigger ones usually kills the deal.
I live in the SFO Bay Area.

My first thought was, "Well, maybe I could let my 1765 go to a good home."

My second thought was, "Remember what a huge PITA it is to build a crate to ship a big vise."

Where are you located? I may have one (1750 S) available, it's a red Snap-On version with new jaws and new pipe jaws. Also, have a nice blue 1745 S version. Both USA

Like Jack said, crating a vise is a pita.
